Republica, part of Nepal Republic News, reported Canda will receive 1,000 more Bhutanese refugees currently residing in Nepal. The announcement was made on Wednesday by Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney.
Canada is committed to working with the international community to find long-term solutions for refugees, and we are pleased to be able to resettle these Bhutanese refugees, many of whom have been living in camps for decades,” said Kenney.
Kenney said they are focusing on refugees who have family amoung the 5,500 Bhutanese already living in Canada, 5,000 of which have been fully resettled.
